Lampard may have just 90 minutes to get Blues goal record

RECORD-chasing Frank Lampard may have just 90 minutes left of his Chelsea career to score the two goals he requires to become the club’s all-time leading scorer.

The England midfielder has hit 201 goals for Chelsea and trails current record holder Bobby Tambling by a solitary strike.

The 34-year-old, who is out of contract at Stamford Bridge this summer, is set to start tomorrow’s Premier League match at struggling Aston Villa, but has been warned by manager Rafael Benitez that his appearance at Villa Park could be his last in a blue shirt.

“He will play at least one more game and we will wait to see what happens in the other two,” said Benitez. “Lampard will play against Aston Villa and I cannot say anything about the [Europa League] final. We have to play another game and after I will decide the team for the final.

“Frank is a great professional and a very good player. I am really pleased with him because he is training very well every day and his fitness is quite good.”
