THE TRIAL of former Goldman Sachs bond trader Fabrice Tourre began with the selection of five women and four men as jurors yesterday. Tourre, wearing a black suit and orange tie, sat with his counsel as the jury was selected. The SEC contends Tourre misled investors in the Abacus investment vehicle, in 2007. Tourre denies the allegation and is “confident that when all the evidence is considered, the jury will soundly reject the SEC’s charges,” his lawyers said. District judge Katherine Forrest warned lawyers on both sides to be mindful jurors may not know financial jargon to be used at trial.
