John Lewis to build £7m Kent store

Department store chain John Lewis is to start work on a £7m At Home store in Ashford, Kent, next week, the group said yesterday. The 40,000 square feet store, which will sell furniture, electrical goods and other homewares, is set to open before the end of this year, creating around 125 jobs. Ashford will mark John Lewis’s tenth At Home store, which was first rolled-out in 2009 to target middle class shoppers in smaller towns. Three stores opened last year in Newbury, Chichester and Ipswich.
