Jane Shilton deal collapses

HUNDREDS of UK retail jobs are at risk following the last minute collapse of a takeover bid by footwear company Shoon for part of rival Jane Shilton, City A.M. has learnt.

Shoon had agreed to take control of Shilton’s 39 footwear concessions in department stores across the UK in a deal that was due to complete on 31 July. But Somerset-based Shoon, whose bid was backed by private equity outfit GA Europe, pulled the plug following dire trading conditions for the industry during the first half of 2013.
