ITV told to broaden search for new chair

SOME shareholders in ITV, the beleaguered commercial television station, have told the board they want it to consider people from outside the media sector when it comes to the hiring of a new chairman.<br /><br />The media group has been thrown into disarray by a public squabble over its attempts to hire a new chairman and chief executive.<br /><br />Over the weekend, it emerged that two executives with considerable media experience, Sir Crispin Davis and Sir Michael Bishop, were being&nbsp; lined up as possible replacements for current executive chairman Michael Grade. <br /><br />But some shareholders are believed to think that ITV would be better served by extending its search to consider people outside the media sector.
