THE FORMER chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds is to join the board of Legal & General (L&G) as non-executive director, the insurer said yesterday.
Lindsay Tomlinson, who is chairman of the Takeover Panel’s code committee, spent the early parts of his career with Barclays Global Investors before becoming head of Europe in 1996. He left the firm, which was bought by BlackRock, in 2011. L&G also appointed Rudy Markham, who joined the board in 2006, to the role of senior independent director and vice-chairman, as Henry Staunton steps down at the end of May after nine years with the company. Chairman John Stewart said Tomlinson “brings a broad range of experience from his time in the investment management industry and his non-executive roles”.
