THE SQUEEZE on household incomes tightened in 2013’s fourth quarter, according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

UK households had £13 less real income per head in the fourth quarter of last year than in the third quarter – £4,521, including public services provided in kind.

And despite the fact that real incomes were up £84 per head compared to the same period of 2011, the ONS said the past nine years as a whole had seen increases of only £216 since 2004, compared to an £841 jump over the previous eight years.
