Icahn builds 6pc Dell stake

ACTIVIST investor Carl Icahn has built a stake of around 100m shares in Dell and wants the personal computer maker to conduct a leveraged recapitalisation, complicating founder Michael Dell’s effort to take the company private, it emerged last night.

Icahn, who is known for shaking up management, has accumulated a stake in Dell representing six per cent of the company, CNBC reported.

That would make the billionaire investor, the second-largest shareholder in the firm.
