FOLLOWING her suspension last year for appearing on the TV show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, Nadine Dorries has been let off the naughty step and reinstated as a Conservative MP.
Dorries was criticised for flying out to Australia for the TV programme, and probably didn’t endear herself to many in her party when she said it was run by “arrogant posh boys.”
David Cameron has previously said she needed to earn the affection of her colleagues before she could return. Which clearly she has done, as last night the Mid-Bedfordshire MP tweeted: “My whip has been restored with no conditions other than those which apply to any party MP.” Business as usual then.
■ Readers will recall that four brave runners from City A.M. are taking part in the Gherkin Challenge next month. The City’s fittest will be racing up 38 floors to the top of 30 St Mary Axe, where thankfully panoramic views and a glass of something refreshing from the summit bar await. The Capitalist will be following our runners’ training progress ahead of raceday on 23 June. But for those who fancy a glass of champagne without the sweatiness, a lift pass can be bought for £75. And the good news? The money raised goes to the NSPCC so the laziness is guilt-free. www.gherkinchallenge.org.uk
