Homeland star Damian Lewis set to return to his City roots

FANS of television show Homeland ought to get themselves down to the Guildhall next Tuesday, as it was announced yesterday that the show’s star Damian Lewis is set to receive the Freedom of the City of London at the Guildhall.

Lewis is no stranger to the Square Mile, having graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1993. However The Capitalist hears his City roots go even deeper – his maternal grandfather is Sir Ian Bowater, who served as Lord Mayor of the City of London in 1939.

Lewis, who said that London is “the City that I have grown up in, and love, more than any other” described the Freedom as “the most extraordinary honour.” Coming from a man who has dined at the White House, that really is praise indeed.
