Home drinking boosts Adnams

Suffolk-based brewer Adnams reported a 4.3 per cent rise in annual turnover yesterday as it managed to improve beer sales despite a declining market. The company, which brews a range of niche beers such as Kristal White Ale and Adnams Broadside, saw pre-tax profits rise to £3.2m from £1.3m as sales grew to £56.9m. Beer volume sales grew thanks to a rise in beers for home drinking as weather kept people away from pubs.
