Hi ho Silver! Body double posed for Queen’s first coronation coin

EVERYONE who assumed the Queen was on every single piece of English money is in for a surprise when they see the new pictures released for the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.

The Royal Mint has released photos from 1953 which show that the Queen used a body double for her first equestrian portrait.

The lucky lady posing side-saddle was Jean Emerson, an officer in the Women’s Royal Naval Service. She sat on Winston the horse for sculptor Gilbert Ledward who crafted the original coin.

Former rugby legend Jason “the fun bus” Leonard (pictured) will be making an appearance in the Square Mile today. Not for a game of City sevens, but signing autographs at one of HSBC’s City branches. The World Cup winner will be posing for photos from 11.30am to 2.30pm at the Queen Victoria Street branch. What better opportunity to add value to some old rugby memorabilia before the upcoming Lions tour to Australia?
