Hewitt joins Bupa board

Former health secretary Patricia Hewitt has been appointed as a non-executive director at healthcare firm Bupa. Hewitt left the House of Commons in 2010 after being MP for Leicester West for 13 years. As well as working as the health secretary between 2005 and 2007, Hewitt was also secretary of state for trade and industry and cabinet minister for women between 2001 and 2005. Hewitt, already a senior independent director at BT Group, joins Bupa on 1 July.
