TONY Buckingham, the chief executive of London listed Heritage Oil, yesterday came out in support of former JP Morgan dealmaker Ian Hannam in the third day of testimony at the High Court.
Hannam is appealing a 2012 decision by the Financial Services Authority to fine him £450,000 for two counts of alleged markets abuse concerning inside information.
Buckingham yesterday told the court Hannam was a man of “integrity”. The tribunal continues.
Hannam, a former soldier, had previously told the court on Wednesday: “Mr Buckingham and I are from the same DNA.”
The tribunal is centred on two emails Hannam sent to a Kurdish government minister over an oil deal involving Buckingham.
One of the emails, which is alleged to contain inside information, said: “Tony has just found oil and it is looking good.”
