FOUR London-based lawyers will join the partnership of newly merged Herbert Smith Freehills, the firm announced yesterday, as part of a 19-strong round of promotions focused on its Asian offices.

Mike Flockhart, Barnaby Hinnigan, Hywel Jenkins and Samantha Brown are the new London partners at the firm, which was formed by the merger of Herbert Smith and Australian firm Freehills last October.

Flockhart is a member of the corporate team, Hinnigan handles non-contentious insurance and financial institutions law, Jenkins works in financial regulation and dispute resolution, and Brown is a pensions specialist.

A total of 19 new partners were named yesterday, 10 of whom are based in the firm’s Asia Pacific offices.

Most of the promotions come in Herbert Smith Freehill’s global corporate and disputes practices, with seven lawyers from each department making partner.
