Henderson Global names new head of 150m property fund

HENDERSON Global Investors has named Cameron Fraser as head of its £150m institutional UK property fund, replacing Ludo MacKenzie who is jumping ship to become a partner at rival property fund Melford Capital Partners.

Fraser is joining from CBRE Investors, where he was manager of the Unilever account and oversaw the growth of its fund from £300m to £500m in just three years.

The 15-year old Henderson UK Property fund, which is based in Jersey for tax reasons, has outperformed rival funds that follow the same benchmark for the last five years in a row.

Commenting on his appointment, Fraser said there were both challenges and opportunities in real estate markets currently.

“I believe Henderson is extremely well placed to turn those to its advantage and that of its investors,” he added.

Henderson, which took over New Star Asset Management’s retail property funds when it bought the group earlier this year, launched a separate institutional property fund earlier this week, and is looking to raise £500m to buy up London offices at bargain prices.
