Hayward could get £10.8m pension pot

TONY HAYWARD, the BP chief executive at the centre of public fury in the US, could receive a £10.8m pension should he stand down from his post.

The embattled oil boss is thought to receive a yearly pension of more than £500,000 according to Hargreaves Landsdown, which calculated the figure based on information contained within BP’s accounts.
Hayward, who already earns around $6m (£4m) a year in salary, would see the bumper pension if he exits his job in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico spill.

Meanwhile, Hayward has cancelled a keynote speech he was due to deliver at a London oil conference today, citing his commitment to the Gulf relief effort.
