EASTER AT HAMPTON COURT PALACE
6-9 APRIL, ALL DAY

Hampton Court Palace is one of the most scenic sites near London at any time of the year but over the Easter weekend a host of eggstras will be laid on. King Henry VIII, a famous past resident of the stately home, will be milling around the cloisters with at least one of his wives, followed by the various hangers-on of the Tudor Court. There will also be a family-oriented egg hunt around the palace grounds – those who finish the route will win a secret prize. hrp.org.uk

THE BOAT RACE
7 APRIL, 12PM, BISHOP’S PARK

The weather may not be perfect for Pimms but the race is still a great day out over the Easter weekend. Festivities will take place in Bishop's Park and Furnivall Gardens from 12pm before the race itself, which starts at 2.15pm. Arrive early to get a good spot. theboatrace.org

THE OXFORD & CAMBRIDGE GOAT RACE
7 APRIL, 4PM, SPITALFIELDS CITY FARM

Don’t get the attraction of the Boat Race? Then head east for the second most important contest of the afternoon. Goats from the famous university towns race through the streets to win the prize. A spin off event is the stoat race. A glorious triumph for puns. thegoatrace.org

THE BIG EGG HUNT
UNTIL 9 APRIL, COVENT GARDEN, ALL DAY

The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt saw 200 artists craft giant eggs, which were hidden around central London. This weekend you can see all of them rounded up in Covent Garden. You can also bid on some of the eggs this weekend for your last chance to bag one of your own. thebigegghunt.co.uk
