Government hires in-house entrepreneurs

BUSINESS secretary Vince Cable yesterday hired two entrepreneurs to advise the government on issues affecting small and medium sized firms.

North Yorkshire-based Lawrence Tomlinson – whose LNT group has interests in care homes, construction and car manufacturing – will be joined by London-based Rekha Mehr, who runs a baking business named Pistachio Rose.

They will each receive £10,000 a year in return for spending one day per week providing advice to the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

Cable said the duo will “keep our focus firmly on the needs of entrepreneurs”.
