GLOBAL sales of PCs suffered another double-digit decline in the second quarter, though the drop was not as big as the record-setting slide in the prior period.
Data from IDC released yesterday afternoon showed that global PC sales fell 11.4 per cent compared to last year’s second quarter, which was largely in line with the 11.7 per cent drop the firm had previously forecast.
The firm recorded a 13.9 per cent drop in PC sales for the first quarter — a record since it began tracking the sector.
A separate survey from research company Gartner, found that global PC shipments fell by 10.9 per cent in the second quarter.
The firm said that the slump marked the fifth consecutive quarter of declining shipments — marking the longest-running slump in the sector’s history.
