GERMAN imports and exports rose in April, indicating that Europe’s largest economy may be gaining traction after last year’s slump.

New data from the Federal Statistics Office showed that imports rose 2.3 per cent month-on-month, while exports were up 1.9 per cent. Both figures beat analysts’ forecasts.

Germany’s economy contracted at the end of 2012, impacted by the ongoing Eurozone crisis.
