Gatwick gets traffic boost

GATWICK Airport has enjoyed its busiest March since the onset of the financial crisis, taking its traffic for the year up to 34.2m passengers, it said yesterday.

The airport served 2.58m passengers last month, up 2.5 per cent, helped by an early Easter and the cold weather encouraging Britons to take holidays abroad.

However, the number of plane movements in and out of the airport fell 1.7 per cent in the year.
