Furniture retailer Dwell collapses

FURNITURE chain Dwell ceased trading today, potentially putting 300 jobs at risk.

The troubled UK retailer is the latest casualty on the high street, following the collapse of stores such as HMV and Jessops last year.

Dwell is said to have filed a notice of intention last week to appoint the advisory firm Duff & Phelps as an administrator and a formal statement is expected in the next few days.

Customers with outstanding orders have reportedly been told to contact their card issuer, which means that those who paid with cash could lose out.

Dwell’s website was too busy to load this afternoon.
