Fulham move swiftly to seal double swoop

FULHAM manager Martin Jol has moved swiftly to begin reshaping his squad for the 2013-14 Premier League season by completing the signings of midfielder Derek Boateng and defender Fernando Amorebieta on free transfers.

After the club’s Player of the Season, Sascha Riether, made his loan move from Cologne permanent last week, Jol has added two fresh faces to his squad who finished 12th in the Premier League after taking just four points from their final eight games.

Boateng, 30, has signed a one-year deal after leaving FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine, while 28-year-old Amorebieta has joined on a four-year deal from Spanish side Athletic Bilbao.

“I’ve been working hard to come here and I’ll do my best for the club,” said Boateng, capped 46 times by Ghana. “It’s been a long road for me but now I’m here I’m so happy and I can’t wait to start and give everything I have.”

Meanwhile, central defender Amorebieta, who has won eight caps for Venezuela, added: “I’m impressed with the talent already at the club and I look forward to meeting the players for pre-season training in July.”
