Fuentes appeal is still possible

BLOOD bags seized by police from shamed doctor Eufemiano Fuentes, which could be key to uncovering widespread doping in sport, must be destroyed a court has ruled, but an appeal could yet salvage hopes of further investigations.

Fuentes was handed a one-year suspended prison sentence and fined £3,940 for supplying blood transfusions to professional cyclists, but told the court he had also worked with competitors in other sports.

And an appeal could reverse Judge Julia Patricia Sanatmaria’s ruling.
