TOUR de France favourite Chris Froome is confident the Team Sky line-up for this year’s centenary race can repeat their Criterium du Dauphine success and help him secure an historic victory.
Froome, 28, is bidding to become only the second British rider ever to win the Tour and will be supported by the same seven team-mates that helped him triumph in France earlier this month, plus new addition Kanstantsin Siutsou.
Criterium runner-up Richie Porte, plus British Olympic medal winners Peter Kennaugh and Geraint Thomas are named, and Froome believes his team possesses all the ingredients to succeed.
“Most of us were at the Criterium du Dauphine and I was hugely impressed there with the way the team came together in control of the leader’s jersey,” said Froome.
“It gave me huge faith and I could not be happier with the selection.”
