French Connection swings to loss

FRENCH Connection slid to a £10.5m loss in the 12 months to February as sales fell by eight per cent, although the fashion retailer was upbeat on the future, pointing to improved trading during the start of 2013 as online sales pick up. The firm, known for its infamous FCUK branding, has been criticised for failing to keep up with fashion trends, but said it hoped to be profitable in two years’ time. French Connection is aiming to close 15 of its lossmaking UK stores, although it has struggled to find interested parties.
