Freeze delays firms’ results

DOZENS of US companies were forced to delay the release of earnings reports yesterday as the market was frozen for a second day.

The likes of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, financial news provider Thomson Reuters and power firm NRG, were all set to report either today or yesterday, but delayed until later in the week. Others included GNC Holdings, TimeWarner Cable, Spirit Airlines and TripAdvisor.

One company that did release results was car giant Ford, which trounced forecasts to report revenue of $32bn (£19.9bn) and a pre-tax profit of $2.2bn.
