BOOKSELLER Foyles is to open its first branch in the City after signing for space in the One New Change shopping centre near St Paul’s Cathedral.
The book shop’s fifth branch in London will open on 28 October, the same day as the retail centre is set to launch.
Land Securities, developer of the mall on Cheapside, is also close to signing up an occupant for its rooftop restaurant space.
Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver are both understood to have considered the rooftop terrace, but have both taken space inside the development instead. The terrace overlooking the cathedral will open to the public in November.
Talks are also ongoing between Land Securities and several companies for 210,000 square feet of available office space. US law firm K&L Gates reserved 120,000 square feet, around 35 per cent of the total office space, in 2007.
Martha Carson, head of marketing at One New Change, said: “One New Change is set to bring a whole new shopping and dining experience to the City of London – something we are delighted Foyles will be a part of.”
