LOW-CAL MENU FOR FASHION WEEK
The Buddha Bar, home of London’s most overtly glamorous sushi, is reprising its Fashion Week menu with a selection of dishes that are perfect for calorie conscious fashionistas who need energy too (hello, catwalk models). Its new chef, South African-born Clifton Muil, has created a “fashion fuel” menu that includes the likes of red miso soup with spring onion, seaweed salad with wakame, steamed sea bass with black bean broth and fresh fruit. From 19 Feb to end of the month. Two courses £19; three courses £24. Buddha Bar, 8 Victoria Embankment, WC2R 2AB, tel: 020 3371 7777.
WORLD’S MOST EXPENSIVE HAM
Jamon Iberico is expensive at the best of times. But lovers of the Spanish ham who really want something special – and have the cash to back it up – will be pleased to know that the world’s most expensive leg of ham, the Albarrageno Jamon Iberico de Bellota, is now on sale at Selfridge’s Food Hall for a modest £1,800 (each leg is 7kg). Only 50 pigs are selected by Manuel Maldonado, a third generation Iberico farmer, and are given 10 hectares each to roam in the pastures of the Extramadura. No wonder they taste so good. Oh, and each leg comes with its own DNA certificate to prove authenticity. www.selfridges.com.
