BUSINESS confidence suffered a setback in February, according to figures released today.

The Lloyds business barometer dived 14 percentage points to 32 per cent last month, signalling reduced but still positive firm sentiment.

“This overall drop in sentiment is likely to be explained by some negative economics news flow, including the weaker than expected fourth quarter GDP releases across the UK, US and Eurozone, as well as soft retail figures,” Lloyds judged.

But Lloyds’ employment index saw a much smaller fall, of only two percentage points, highlighting the strength in the labour market.
