Farewell to Sir Alex Ferguson

THERE ARE no shortages of Manchester United fans in the Square Mile. Dairy Crest chairman Anthony Fry, former BBC director general Greg Dyke and Goldman Sachs Asset Management chairman Jim O'Neill are all proud supporters. So apparently is Labour party leader Ed Miliband, who eulogistically tweeted yesterday: “Proud man. Great manager. Sir Alex Ferguson will never be forgotten.”

Unfortunately despite all these City supporters, Portuguese chicken restaurant Nando’s didn’t extend its Fergie goodwill as far as the capital.

The chain kept its Manchester restaurants open for an extra five minutes last night in honour of the outgoing manager’s skill of brokering extra injury time.
