Farah digs deep at Diamond League

ATHLETICS: Double Olympic champion Mo Farah boosted his World Championship prospects with a gutsy 5,000m victory at the Birmingham Diamond League meeting yesterday. Farah had to dig deep to shake off the challenges of Ethiopian pair Yenew Alamirew and Hagos Gebrhiwet on a fruitful day for Britain. East London’s Christine Ohuruogu pipped Botswana’s Amantle Montsho in the 400m, while in-form Perri Shakes-Drayton set a season’s best in the 400m hurdles. Teenager Jessica Judd posted a personal best to win the 800m.
