THE FOOTBALL Association insists it will crack down on hooliganism following a weekend of action that was marred by scenes of violence.

“We would expect the full force of the law – criminal law and football law – to be brought against them,” the FA’s general secretary Alex Horne said, after fights broke out among Millwall fans during Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Wigan.

In a separate incident, fans also clashed with police after yesterday’s 3-0 win by Sunderland at Newcastle.
