MANCHESTER United manager David Moyes has been warned off raiding former club Everton for Leighton Baines, after the Toffees rejected the Premier League champions’ £12m bid for the England left-back.

The Merseysiders are believed to value the 27-year-old far higher than that, and to have told United that they have no intention of selling him.

Moyes officially takes up his position as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor on Monday but has been rumoured to want to take Baines with him since landing the Old Trafford role in May.

He already has Patrice Evra and Alexander Buttner as left-backs, but the Frenchman is 32 while the Dutchman’s form has been patchy.
