GREAT Britain’s Davis Cup hero Dan Evans insists he will not grumble should he be replaced in the team by world No2 Andy Murray for the world group play-off in September.
Evans won his singles rubber in straight sets to complete his team’s sensational 3-2 comeback win against Russia on Sunday to give Britain the chance of promotion to the world group.
Murray missed the weekend’s triumph, but Evans will not complain should he be axed by captain Leon Smith later this year.
“Dropping people in any sport is hard and I’m grateful to Leon for having that difficult conversation,” said Evans. “This time it worked but next time that conversation might come to me and that’s fine.”
