Eurozone building dips

CONSTRUCTION output in the 16-nation eurozone fell by 1.1 per cent in September compared with the previous month, according to official statistics released yesterday.<br /><br />In August, production in the sector rose by 0.1 percent in the eurozone, Eurostat, the official European statistics agency said.<br /><br />Compared with a year ago, construction output dropped by eight per cent per cent in the single currency bloc. <br /><br />In the 27-nation EU, construction output also dropped by 1.1 per cent in September, compared with the previous month and by 9.4 per cent year on year.<br /><br />Among the member states for which data is available for September 2009, the highest increase was recorded in the Czech Republic, which saw construction output increase by 2.4 per cent.<br /><br />The largest drop was in Slovenia, where construction output dropped by 10.4 per cent.
