Egypt’s Morsi rejects quit calls

EGYPTIAN Prime Minister Mohammed Morsi vowed to remain in office last night, despite widespread protests.

He rejected an ultimatum from the country’s army, which gave Morsi until Wednesday to resolve the deepening crisis or face a potential coup. Hundreds of thousands have lined the streets, protesting against Morsi’s rule in his first year in power.

At least seven people were reported dead in clashes yesterday.
