Eduardo and Gibbs boosts lift Gunners

ARSENAL have been handed a double boost after striker Eduardo signed a new contract and defender Kieran Gibbs was told his foot is not broken.<br /><br />Eduardo, who is set for a major role in the absence of Robin van Persie, has signed a long-term deal to extend his stay at Emirates Stadium.<br /><br />The Croatian has been a fringe figure this season but insists that, with Van Persie sidelined by ruptured ankle ligaments, he is ready to play a starring role.<br /><br />&ldquo;I feel strong in my body and I feel ready to play 90 minutes every three days if it&rsquo;s needed,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;I hope to stay at Arsenal for as long as I can.&rdquo;<br /><br />Gibbs, who was set to come in for the injured Gael Clichy, sparked fears he had broken a metatarsal when he was hurt on England Under-21 duty this week. But Arsenal doctors say he has suffered only severe bruising and expect his lay-off to be &ldquo;short-term&rdquo;.<br />
