Djokovic mindful of third round threat from dangerous Dimitrov

WORLD No1 Novak Djokovic marched into the French Open third round yesterday after brushing aside Argentina’s Guido Pella in just 86 minutes.

On a rain-disrupted day Djokovic wasted little time in seeing off his opponent 6-2 6-0 6-2.

The Serb now faces 26th seed Grigor Dimitrov on Saturday and knows he will have to be at his best to beat the Bulgarian.

“Even though maybe his style of the game could be better on the hard court, he’s showing he can play equally well on clay,” said Djokovic. “It’s going to be a tough one for both of us.”

Women’s No3 seed Victoria Azarenka progressed against Annika Beck in straight sets, but sixth seed Na Li lost 5-7 6-3 6-3 to Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

No2 seed Maria Sharapova resumes her match with Eugenie Bouchard today leading 6-2 4-2.
