The unbeaten colt’s five-length victory in the year’s first Classic on Saturday at Newmarket has persuaded co-owners Sheikh Mohammed and Jim Bolger to enter him in the 1 June showdown.
“Dawn Approach has come out of the 2000 Guineas in excellent shape and I couldn’t be more pleased with him,” said Bolger. “I am now looking forward to running him in the Investec Derby at Epsom.”
Dawn Approach was yesterday quickly installed as favourite for the Derby, won by his sire five years ago. His win was a timely boost for Sheikh Mohammed, whose Godolphin operation was last month hit by revelations of doping.
