CWC boosts Caribbean presence

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) has expanded its presence in the fast-growing Caribbean telecoms market by launching a pay-TV service in the Cayman Islands. The move comes as CWC aims for new markets in Latin America and the Caribbean after agreeing to sell its interests in Monaco and Macau. CWC, which was formed when Cable & Wireless split into two firms in 2010, has said it will use much of the $1.78bn (£1.17bn) it is due to receive from selling those businesses to grow in its core markets. The FTSE 250 firm is one of many telecoms providers looking to expand their services from basic phone and internet connections to incorporate TV.
