Cranswick buys pig-breeding firm

Cranswick announced yesterday it has acquired East Anglian Pigs (EAP), the pig-breeding company, for an undisclosed sum, as it looks to take greater control of its supply chain. The FTSE 250 sliced meat and sausage-maker said EAP was already a key supplier to Cranswick and that it will continue as a separate operation with its own management team after the acquisition. EAP had gross assets of £11.8m as at 31 March 2012.
