CHELSEA have been warned to make an offer that cannot be refused or forget about signing in-demand Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani from Napoli.
The Blues are among a clutch of Europe’s richest clubs, including Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, to have targeted the powerful centre-forward, 26.
Former Stamford Bridge boss Rafael Benitez insists Cavani will only be sold if a club meet his £54m release fee, or turn their heads with a similarly tempting offer.
“We want Cavani to stay,” said Benitez.“If he leaves then it would only be because someone has matched the release clause or comes up with an irresistible offer.”
Reports in Italy this week suggested Chelsea had won the race for Cavani by bidding £49.3m.
