Clarkson rocked by shipping fall

Revenues and profits at shipping services firm Clarkson fell last year as the gloomy world economy dented the firm’s ship broking business. The firm said pre-tax profits after restructuring and acquisition costs fell by more than a third to £23.3m, in spite of a 4.5 per cent rise in seaborne trade and market share gains over 2012. Clarkson boss Andi Case said that conditions will remain difficult this year.
