NEW Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini believes his side will finish above arch rivals Manchester United and reclaim their Premier League crown next season.
The 2011-12 champions finished 11 points off the pace last term as the now-retired Sir Alex Ferguson delivered his final trophy to Old Trafford.
But Pellegrini, 59, feels City will be equipped to regain the title and mount a challenge in the Champions League too, following elimination in the group stage under predecessor Roberto Mancini in each of the last two campaigns.
“When Manchester City won the league it was one of the most important things for the club and we will try to repeat it,” said the former Malaga and Real Madrid manager.
“I know the last two years were not very good in the Champions League and I will try to improve that and I will try to get another Premier League title.
“I know the most important thing for City fans is to beat United. I’m sure we will do it and this year we will be on top of United.”
