CITY VIEWS: SHOULD THE UK RAISE ITS RETIREMENT AGE?

“I’ve got a work pension, but other than that I’ve not really considered retirement. I don’t really like the thought of working past 65, but it might be necessary. I wouldn’t have thought people could change jobs easily past that age – I can’t see many companies willing to hire a 70 year old.”

DAVID JONES | ECLIPSE PRESENTATIONS
“I don’t particularly want to work until I drop. I enjoy my work but life can be short. I think a lot more people will start to work part-time if the retirement age is increased by much more. I have a place in Spain and my wife has a decent pension so we should be okay.”

ROB COZENS | DEALING ROOM CONSTRUCTION
“Retirement seems too far off at the moment, I don’t mind the thought of working past 65. Why not make everyone work until 70? If it keeps the economy going and stops people from taking their pensions and living off the state, it should only be encouraged. If people still want to work they shouldn’t be forced to stop.”
