CITY VIEWS: DO YOU THINK THE COPENHAGEN CONFERENCE WILL MAKE AN IMPACT?

ANGUS MACLENNAN | ANGMAC LIMITED
“I think that because there are massive issues at stake in Copenhagen, it’s important that the nations involved seize the opportunity to accomplish something. I fear that because there are so many different countries in talks, their vested national interests may get in the way of the importance of working towards a greater good for all. However, I would love to be proven wrong.”

MATT GULCZYNSKI | FIRST STATE INVESTMENT
“I think there will definitely be agreements made among the countries involved in the current talks. It might not happen at Copenhagen, but within the next 12 months or so. It’s difficult to imagine that Copenhagen could bring about any real changes so soon because there are so many countries with so many different goals in mind. However, it is a step in the right direction.”

DAVID CLEMENTS | PHOREST GROUP
“I personally think that it would be difficult to expect that developing countries as well as the richer, developed nations will come to an agreement at Copenhagen. They are each hoping for the cheapest and the greenest proposals to come into play, but this poses a challenge as so many nations are expected to find a middle ground, despite their different expectations.”
