<strong>Aviva<br /></strong>The insurer has appointed Patrick Regan as its new chief financial officer, effective from February next year.<br /><br />Regan is currently group chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Willis Group Holdings, the insurance broker. <br /><br />He has also previously held positions within the industry as group financial controller at RSA and as finance and claims director for UK general insurance at AXA.<br /><br /><strong>Rockspring <br /></strong>The property investment management group has hired Edmund Craston as a partner and managing director.<br /><br />Craston will work alongside chief executive Robert Gilchrist to enhance Rockspring&rsquo;s reach within its current operations and funds under management, as well as looking at potential new business opportunities.<br /><br />He has nearly 20 years of investment banking experience in the real estate sector, having previously worked as EMEA head of real estate investment banking at Lehman Brothers and European head of real estate investment banking at UBS.<br /><br /><strong>Ernst &amp; Young<br /></strong>The accountancy giant has appointed Vincent Oratore as a partner in international tax services.<br /><br />A qualified solicitor, Oratore was most recently managing director at Banque AIG, in charge of US and foreign tax paid, cross border transactions and dividends received deductions. <br /><br />He has previously worked at Merrill Lynch and as a board director at merchant bank J Henry Schroder Wagg, and is also deputy president of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.<br /><br /><strong>Ropes &amp; Gray<br /></strong>Maurice Allen and Michael Goetz are to join the law firm to spearhead the launch of its London office in January 2010.<br /><br />The pair previously worked together at rival White &amp; Case, where they were co-heads of the banking and capital markets practice groups.<br /><br /><strong>Ambition<br /></strong>The recruitment group has appointed James Ash to its UK subsidiary, Witan Jardine, as managing director of the finance and accountancy business.<br /><br />Originally from New Zealand, Ash started his recruitment career in the UK and was most recently chief operating officer at Goodman Masson.<br /><br />In his new role, he will be tasked with expanding the business&rsquo;s coverage in sectors such as energy, telecoms and retail.<br /><br /><strong>Execuzen<br /></strong>The financial services search firm has appointed Bill Allum as a managing director covering the Central Europe, Middle East and Africa region across all product areas.<br /><br />Prior to joining the firm, Allum was a managing director at rival Napier Scott, where he build a successful Middle East and North Africa (MENA) practice covering conventional and Islamic finance.<br />
