The broker and corporate adviser has appointed retail analyst David Stoddart (pictured) and corporate financier Sarah Wharry to its team.
Stoddart is one of the best-known retail analysts in the City, having covered the sector for over 20 years. He joins from Altium Securities and has also worked at Landsbanki, Henderson Crosthwaite Securities and Société Générale.
Wharry joins as a corporate finance director and was previously at RBC Capital Markets.
The low carbon economy organisation has taken on James Smith, the chairman of Shell in the UK, as a new non-executive director, effective from September.
Smith became chairman on Shell UK in 2004, having joined the oil giant in 1983. Prior to that, he worked at Accenture.
Carbon Trust chairman Sir Ian McAllister said: “Smith’s extensive experience will prove invaluable in helping the Carbon Trust further its mission to reduce carbon emissions from business and the public sector and accelerate the introduction of new low carbon technologies.”

The bank has hired Eli Koen and Mathieu NŹgre as co-heads of emerging European equities.
The pair join from Fortis Investments. Koen has 17 years of experience in the Turkish equity market and NŹgre has been managing emerging European funds since 2001.
UBP said the hires would increase the bank’s coverage of some of Europe’s fastest-growing markets, adding that it believes most institutional investors are under-invested in both emerging market equities and bonds.
The investment banking group has named Andrew Fitchie as its new head of research and Mike Jones as corporate finance director heading up the resources team.
Fitchie was most recently at Collins Stewart, while Jones joins from Canaccord Capital.
The investment management firm has opened a new office in Salisbury, headed by Paul Sexton.
Sexton was formerly a director at Close Brothers Investment and has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry.
The Indian financial services group has appointed Sunil Godhwani as its new chairman and managing director following the resignation of incumbent chairman Malvinder Singh and director Shivinder Singh.
Malvinder Singh will now concentrate on his role as chairman of Parkway Holdings and focus on global healthcare opportunities, while Shivinder Singh will be throwing his energies into his position as managing director of Fortis Healthcare.
